Walk around Lake Quigg in the tidal-influenced Chehalis River Surge Plain on a level paved trail open to hikers of all ages and abilities. Friends Landing was once the site of a gravel mining operation. Today it’s a 152-acre camping and nature park designed for the disabled community. The main trail travels along Lake Quigg’s shoreline passing a floating dock, several boardwalks, interpretive signs, and a dock on the Chehalis River. Visit when the tide is coming in so you can watch waters surge into the lake basin.

Watch for bald eagles, ospreys, belted kingfishers, common mergansers, hooded mergansers, double-crested cormorants, great blue herons, and pied-billed grebes. In the forest and thickets surrounding the lake look for black-capped and chestnut-backed chickadees, ruby-crowned Kinglets, common yellowthroats, willow flycatchers, Townsend’s warblers, and cedar Waxwings.
